Former NC State player accused of fraud

RALEIGH Gavin Troy Grant, 23, is charged with one felony count of obtaining property by false pretenses.

According to authorities, the charges are related to credit card fraud at the Saks Fifth Ave. department store at Triangle Town Center.

A second person, who is a store employee, was also charged. Paige Shamone Gilliam, 25, is charged with three counts of obtaining property by false pretense.

Police were first alerted about the incident on Oct. 14. Gilliam was arrested on Jan. 6. She was released from custody after posting bond.

Police said Grant turned himself in this week. He was released on his own recognizance.

Grant played on NC State's basketball team from 2004 to 2008 and now plays in the NBA Development League for the Utah Flash.
