He is accused of defrauding customers out of millions of dollars with a fake online furniture business based in Calabash, N.C. That's located near the S.C. border in Brunswick County.
The U.S. attorney's office says Privette took telephone orders from customers and required deposits.
However, he never delivered the orders to customers and did not offer refunds.
Privette was ordered to pay $1.1 million in restitution. It's unclear if any of the estimated 600 victims will get their money.
Prosecutors say Privette was taken into custody and has asked to serve his prison term at the federal prison in Bennettsville S.C.
