Violators can be fined up to $1,000 and if a clerk has a record he or she could face jail time.
Clerks busted for minor sales
RALEIGH Alcohol law enforcement agents busted 1080 store clerks who tried to sell tobacco related products to minors in 2008. That is about 16 percent of the clerks the agency checked.
