Wake Tech goes to 4 days

RALEIGH Classes will be held Monday through Thursday and buildings will be closed on Friday and Saturday. Staff will still get in a 40-hour work week, but the school says it will save about $100,000 in utility bills in a ten-week period from May 18 through July 31.

"We see this as a win-win - for our college and our employees," offered Dr. Stephen Scott, president of Wake Tech in a statement to the media. "The college saves money during a difficult economic year, while employees - and students - enjoy longer weekends during the summer to spend with their families."

Despite the condensed schedule, Wake Tech will offer the same number of classes and serve the same number of students as last summer.
