Lt. R. Podobinski, of the Fayetteville Police Department, says it appears the driver was traveling at a high speed when she lost control of her SUV.
According to police, 27-year-old Latiffany Navarette of raeford was the driver.
Police initially withheld her name from the public until they could notify her family.
Navarette's SUV collided with the median, causing it to roll several times. She sustained severe injuries and was transported to Cape Fear Valley Hospital.
She is listed in critical condition at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
