After stopping the men, Deputy Roy Viverette noticed the Lincoln they were driving had an expired tag. The deputy did a search of the truck and said he found $1,280 in cash sticking out from behind the glove compartment and trash bags full of cigarettes in the truck bed.
Pule - a citizen of Ecuador - was charged with speeding and possession and transportation of non tax paid cigarettes. Dupont - from New York - was also charged with possession and transportation of non tax paid cigarettes.
Both men were booked into the Halifax County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
