Jennifer Puckett, 30, is accused of scamming her customers. She is a licensed insurance agent and the owner of Abbott Insurance Group in West End, NC.
She allegedly took $9,000 in insurance premiums and distributed fake insurance policies between October 1, 2007 and February 1, 2009. Investigators say they have identified 14 victims so far.
Puckett allegedly issued fraudulent insurance certificates that customers believed were covered by various auto, homeowner, rental and other insurance policies. Authorities say Puckett kept the money she collected for herself.
The investigation began when a customer discovered the were holding a fake policy.
Puckett is being held at the detention center in Carthage under a $10,000 bond. She closed her insurance business in February.
