FAYETTEVILLE The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office said Monday that 22-year old Malcolm Jamal Jacobs was trying to steal audio equipment.

He was arrested around 3 a.m. Sunday morning at Westarea Elementary School after allegedly setting off a silent alarm.

Officers say they spotted him climbing out a window when they arrived. Jacobs ran and was later captured hiding in a storage building at his home.

Jacpns was charged with breaking and entering and attempted larceny. He was released on $2,000 bond.

Detectives say the same school was broken into again later the same morning. They're still investigating that burglary.
