SWAT team surrounds burglars

Chapel Hill's Special Emergency Response Team surrounded the Rite Aid Pharmacy at the Eastgate Shopping Center Thursday morning. Police arrested and charged three teens with breaking into a Chapel Hill drug store at the Eastgate Shopping Center.

Officers responded to a burglar alarm around 4 a.m. When they arrived, they found one suspect outside of the Rite Aid. The other two suspects were still inside the store. They surrendered to police a short time later without incident.

Investigators learned that the suspects entered the store through a vent in the building's roof.

Jacob Howard Lockerman, 18, of Clinton is charged with felony breaking and entering, damage to real property, conspiracy to commit a felony, possession of burglary tools and possession of a firearm with altered serial number. He is being held under $20,000 bond.

Christopher Proctor, 18, of Ahoskie and 19-year-old Tamyka Marie Steinbeck of Catawba are both charged with felony breaking and entering, damage to real property, conspiracy to commit a felony and possession of burglary tools. They are being held under $10,000 bond.
