Call for UNC protest investigation

CHAPEL HILL In April, protesters interrupted a speech by former congressman Tom Tancredo.

Some people shouted, others held-up banners and at least one person broke a window.

Then a week later, protesters disrupted another speech by former congressman Virgil Goode.

Now a group called the UNC protesters defense committee is crying foul.

It says the department of public safety suppressed student activism, harassed students and used too much force.

The group has filed a formal complaint during an accreditation hearing for the campus police department on Monday. They also want the results of a university investigation released to the public.
