Wife of Hurricanes' Walker has cancer

RALEIGH Julie Scott was diagnosed during the team's series against the Boston Bruins. According to doctors, the cancer is treatable and she is expected to make a full recover.

"My wife is an amazing person and we are looking forward to a positive outcome from this challenge," Scott Walker said. "I will address the situation with the media this afternoon, but my family would appreciate its privacy going forward."

The Hurricanes begin their best-of-seven Eastern Conference Finals series against the fourth-seeded Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday, May 18, in Pittsburgh.
