The incident began Monday when officers surrounded a home on Dana Lane in Rocky Mount shortly after 1 p.m.
Authorities told Eyewitness News they tried to serve multiple warrants on 22-year-old Thomas Rose when Rose allegedly fired shots at officers. Rose then barricaded himself inside the home, which belongs to one of his friends.
According to Nash County Sheriff Dick Jenkins, both of Rose's parents were on the scene at various times over the two days. Jenkins said no officers fired shots during the course of the standoff.
At least 60 officers from surrounding agencies and SWAT were involved in the two-day standoff that lasted nearly 20 hours.
