Raleigh church group rescued from river

MOORE COUNTY Members of a group from the Living Word Church in Raleigh were on a canoe trip when they encountered flood waters.

Six adults and 24 kids between the ages of 10 and 12 went into the water.

It happened at the Low Water Bridge, near N.C. 109, about 10 miles northwest of Troy. That is not far from the Uwharrie National Forest and Morrow Mountain State Park.

A North Carolina Highway Patrol official said one of its helicopters assisted in the search. Pictures from WSOC-TV's helicopter showed Moore County emergency workers had a command post set up at the scene.

The pastor of Living Word told Eyewitness News that everyone was rescued and everyone is okay.
