Winning Powerball ticket sold in NC

RALEIGH Officials said the only winning ticket from Saturday's drawing was sold in Kings Mountain about 30 miles west of Charlotte.

State lottery operators declined to say which retailer sold the ticket.

Saturday's winning numbers were 3, 11, 18, 22, 28, and the Powerball number was 33.

The winner has 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim the prize at the lottery headquarters in Raleigh.

Winners can choose to collect the money in 30 payments over 29 years or take a lump-sum payment worth about $42 million minus state and federal taxes.

This is the second jackpot-winning Powerball ticket in North Carolina since the state added the nationwide lottery game three years ago.

Jackie Alston of Halifax won $74 million in a November 2006 drawing.
