Ft. Bragg soldier killed in Afghanistan

FORT BRAGG The Department of Defense announced Monday that 23-year-old Sgt. Tyler Juden was killed Saturday when enemy forces attacked his unit with rocket-propelled grenades and small-arms fire.

Juden's family in Arkansas City says that the soldier was known for his shooting ability, which he developed as a young boy. Juden joined the Army in 2005 and wanted to be a teacher when he left the service.

His father, Bob Juden, tells the Arkansas City Traveler that his son was selected to be a sniper and was a squad leader in Afghanistan.

Juden was assigned to the 4th Squadron, 73rd Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team of the 82nd Airborne at Fort Bragg, N.C.
