Man robs Raleigh SunTrust Bank

RALEIGH It happened at a SunTrust branch on Six Forks Road just south of North Hills around 3:30 p.m.

Witnesses told Eyewitness News a man walked into the bank with a very large rifle and pointed it at everyone inside -- about five people -- and told them to get on the ground.

They said the suspect got away with an undisclosed amount of money. Eyewitnesses also said no shots were fired from inside the bank.

Accordingto police, as the suspect was leaving the bank, he fired gunshots at witnesses who were attempting to follow him. No one was struck.

The suspect is described as an African-American man in his 20s to 30s, who is about 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs about 140 pounds. He was wearing a black hoodie, jeans and white tennis shoes.

The suspect is believed to have fled the scene in a pickup truck with faded dark green paint. The truck, which was thought to be a 70s or 80s model and possibly a Ford, had a white camper shell on it.
