According to police, James Robert Crumpler, confronted the Wake County Sheriff's Office Special Team. At that time, Scott Earp, an SRT officer, fired one shot hitting Crumpler. He was transported to Wake Med with non-life threatening injuries and later released.
Crumpler faces an array of drug-related charges and is being held on a $5,000 dollar bond.
Under customary measures, the SBI will investigate the shooting. Earp has worked for the Sheriff's Office for more than 10 years. He has been placed on administrative leave for the time being.
