Durham business complex burns

DURHAM It happened on Angier Avenue near Driver Street around 5 a.m.

A woman called 9-1-1 after spotting smoke coming from the building.

When firefighters got there, heavy bars and locks kept them from getting inside.

They had to use saws to cut the bars and gain access to the building, but flames were towering above the building by then.

Firefighters had to move back and monitor the fire as it died out.

The Triangle Trophy Shop was a total loss, and a barber shop next door was heavily damaged.

No one was in the complex at the time.

The building's landlord - Samuel Jenkins - says he wants to be totally rebuilt within five months.
