Troubleshooter: Limo ride

RALEIGH

"Me and my girls just wanted to celebrate Christmas - lay back and have fun. We work hard," she explained.

The ladies rented a limo from Thorpe's Inc so they wouldn't have to worry about partying too hard. They paid their non-refundable deposit of $50 and also the final balance of $220 a week prior. But as Bullock watched the forecast Christmas Day, she realized the celebration the next day wasn't going to happen.

"The snow started getting thick on the ground," she recalled. "It's the bad weather. They're saying don't go out, so we want to cancel."

Bullock says she called Thorpe's and canceled the limo on Christmas Day. After the snow storm cleared, she called Thorpe's to get her money back.

"He said you just need to reschedule and I said I didn't want to reschedule I just want a refund," she recalled.

Bullock says she understood not getting her $50 non-refundable deposit back, but not the $220. She says it was not in the contract that money was not refundable.

"Someone said call the Troubleshooter and that's why I called you," she said.

We got in touch with the owner of Thorpe's and he offered to return Bullock's $220. He said he doesn't give refunds unless he cancels. Instead, he reschedules.

But, he said he didn't want to cause any problems so that why he decided to give Bullock her money back, less the deposit.

He also added that, despite the snowstorm, the limo driver still made it out to Bullock's house to pick up the party. But he didn't check his messages to get Bullock's cancellation message in time.
