Woman allegedly wanted hit man to kill husband

FAYETTEVILLE Police arrested 45-year-old Mary Ann Locklear McLamb last Friday after investigators say she told an undercover police officer she was trying to have her 61-year-old husband killed.

Her father, Billy Lovette, says his daughter met and married Dennis McLamb at an assisted living facility where they both used to live.

The couple has been married for three and a half years and now live together in a mobile home on Murchison Road.

Lovette says his daughter is easily misled and says she doesn't need to be locked up.

"Mary Ann has got emotional problems, she has had them all her life," Lovette said. "She has been into institutions and got help, and you can be with her five minutes, and you can get her to do anything you want."

Meanwhile, McLamb's husband says all is forgiven and he wants her back home.

"I am not worried about her coming back in the house with me ... I sure do love her," Dennis McLamb said.

He also said he doesn't think McLamb was trying to kill him.

McLamb is currently in the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $10,000 bond.

Both her father and her husband say what she needs is help not incarceration. But it will be up to a judge to decide that.
