CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C.

Colonel Douglas Denn was stopped by Newport police in Carteret County in October. The Marine Corps subsequently relieved him of command.

Denn became the Cherry Point base commander in August, 2009.

Among the military charges the Marine Corps says it's considering are:

- Article 92, Dereliction of Duty.

- Article 111, Driving While Impaired.

-Article 133, Conduct Unbecoming an Officer and a Gentleman.

- Article 134, Conduct Prejudicial to the Good Order and Discipline of the Armed Forces.

Denn would face a trial by court martial if charges are filed.
