Free tax help available

DURHAM

A new tax assistance center opened for the first time Friday at city hall.

It allows workers earning less than $50,000 a year to get help filing their taxes - free of charge.

All you need to do is call ahead and set up an appointment.

Residents can call (919) 667-1000 to receive free tax services in Durham, call 211 for information on VITA sites in the Triangle, or call Connect Inc at 1-888-756-2463 for information on sites across North Carolina. For a full listing contact EITC Carolinas at www.eitc-carolinas.org

Nearly $100 million in tax credits go unclaimed by North Carolina families each year.
