Marine corporal killed in Afghanistan

CAMP LEJEUNE

Pyeatt was a cryptographic linguist assigned to 2nd Radio Battalion, II Marine Expeditionary Forces Headquarters Group at Camp Lejeune.

After joining the Marine Corps in 2007, he was promoted to the rank of corporal in April 2009. He deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in January 2011. He had received several awards while in service, including the Good Conduct Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, National Defense Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Purple Heart, Afghan Campaign Medal and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon.

Pyeatt was 24 years old.
