Suspects hit patrol car in high-speed chase

LEE COUNTY

The chase started when a trooper with the state Highway Patrol attempted to stop a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu for speeding at 81 mph in a 60 zone on US Highway 1 near 15/501 in Moore County.

Authorities say the vehicle -- with two people inside -- did not stop and traveled up to 15/501 and then turned onto NC 42 and entered Lee County, then got onto US 401.

During the pursuit, the suspects hit a Sanford Police Department patrol car on US 421 and Weatherspoon Street.

The Highway Patrol lost sight of the suspects' vehicle, but was later found when the suspects jumped and ran on Underwood Street.

Authorities later located the two suspects on Carbonton Road just before 10:45 a.m. Driver Brandon Lashun Ingram, 29, of 102 Stoney Drive, Durham, is charged with speeding to elude arrest, driving while license revoked, speeding 81 in a 60 mph speed zone, stop sign violation, and careless and reckless driving.

Passenger Bruce Antonio Douglas, 21, of 606 Dogwood Street, Fuquay Varina was charged with resist, delay and obstruct.
