Toddler fatally shot on Goldsboro playground

GOLDSBORO, N.C.

Goldsboro police say they have charged 29-year-old Derrick Raymont Best of Goldboro with murder and he is not in custody.

Police say Princess Shelby King was playing on the playground at The Grand at Day Pointe apartment complex around 3:30 p.m. Sunday when gunfire erupted during a fight between two men.

She died at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

King's family is now trying to raise the money it needs to pay for her funeral expenses. The family says donations should be directed to Attorney John Agner’s office at 214 S. William St., Goldsboro.
