The OH-58D Kiowa Warrior went down at 4380 Linden Road in Linden. That's north of Fayetteville.
Pictures from Chopper 11 HD showed the aircraft sitting upright in a field with light damage - including a piece broken off the tail.
There were no reports of serious injuries, but officials said two people on board would be transported to Womack Army Medical Center as a precaution.
Officials said the aircraft belongs to the 82nd Airborne Division.
