The move means 250 jobs for a community hit hard last year when ConAgra announced it's closing its factory that makes Slim Jim products.
Strategic Behavior Health said it will invest $12 million in the project and that the average compensation will be $50,000, including salary and benefits.
The Memphis based company works with teenagers who suffer from emotional and behavioral disorders.
Town leaders say the announcement comes after state lawmakers passed a bill last week that blocked an I-540 extension that would have split Garner in half. The potential 540 Triangle Expressway proposal stalled more than $30 million in residential development last year and threatened Strategic Behavior Health's plans.
The new facility is planned for the Greenfield Business Park, but an exact location has yet to be determined.
