Soldier dies from Fayetteville crash injuries

An 82nd Airborne Division Paratrooper died Sunday at Cape Fear Valley Hospital following a car wreck Friday evening in Fayetteville.

Spc. James Guynon, 23, of Houston, Texas, was a warehouse logistics clerk with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 307th Brigade Support Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team.

Guynon joined the Army in September 2009 and attended Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Okla., and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Lee, Va. He arrived to his current unit in June 2010.

Guynon's awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon and the Parachutist Badge.

Guynon is survived by his mother and father, Hien and Dung Vu of Houston, Texas.
