Former Raleigh mayor battling cancer

RALEIGH Fetzer, 55, confirmed to Eyewitness News on Friday he was diagnosed with a form of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, after a CT scan found a mass in his abdomen.

Doctors have told Fetzer he has a good chance of beating the illness, which is known to respond well to chemotherapy.

He stepped down as chair of the NCGOP in November, citing family and financial reasons.
