Pedestrian killed by truck in Durham

DURHAM Authorities say an eastbound box truck driven by Daryl Hedden of Timberlake collided with a pedestrian - identified as 75-year-old Russell Roosevelt Rigsbee of Lynn Road. Rigsbee was pronounced dead at the scene.

They say Rigsbee was crossing Miami Boulevard to put up yard sale signs when he was hit. Speed was not a factor and no charges are pending, according to investigators.

Officials had to shut down both eastbound lanes of Highway 70 for several hours while they cleared the scene.
