Man charged with missing woman's murder

FAYETTEVILLE

Terry Dale Robinson, Jr. is charged with first-degree murder and first-degree kidnapping.

"I'm hurt I'm just glad it's coming to a closure, you know, cause we got so many people around here questioning each day wondering where is Erica," said Travis McEachern, Gainey's father.

McEachern made that comment after learning that human remains, possibly belonging to Gainey, were found Tuesday morning. That was hours before police announced Robinson's arrest.

The 24-year-old mother disappeared June 28th.

According to detectives, Gainey was last seen with 44-year-old Robinson, who was an acquaintance. A few hours after her disappearance, Robinson was seen in another town buying mothballs and bleach. He also was driving Gainey's car.

Investigators found human remains Tuesday morning off of Britt Road, just east of St. Pauls in Robeson County. Although police are awaiting positive identification from the medical examiner, Gainey's family says investigators told them they're pretty sure the remains are of the missing mother.

"Like I said, I am going to need God to strengthen me real, real strong right now through all this cause I really need him," McEachern added.

Police are unsure when they will receive results from the medical examiner's office.

Robinson is currently in the Cumberland County Detention Center under no bond.
