A Durham County Sheriff's Office deputy was briefly trapped inside his squad car after hitting a guardrail on I-85 Tuesday.

The deputy was unable to get the door open after the accident, but he's said to be okay. His name has not been released and officials said he'd be kept at the hospital overnight for observation.

The sheriff's office confirmed that the cause of the crash was weather-related and happened when a band of heavy rain was moving over the interstate.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident.
