Part of Interstate 40 had to be shutdown overnight due to an accident.

Authorities had to close the roadway just after midnight Thursday after a vehicle crashed into a wooded area along the shoulder of I-40 near the on-ramp where the interstate meets the Beltline in Garner.

The driver had to be cut out of the vehicle and taken to the hospital. Their condition is unknown at this time.

It is unclear what caused the accident. Further details have not been released.
