Police: Woman charged with DWI going 90 mph

RALEIGH

The accident happened Sunday night around 5:30 p.m. on eastbound US 64 near Rogers Lane, in Raleigh.

The Highway Patrol said 50-year-old Kimberly Reid of Knightdale was drunk and going 90 mph when her 2005 Ford Mustang slammed into the back of a 2006 Volkswagen Beetle.

Both cars were forced into a bridge rail and declared totaled.

Troopers said Reid's blood alcohol level registered at 0.14. The legal limit in North Carolina is point 0.08.

She and the other driver were transported to WakeMed with minor injuries.

Reid was later released from the hospital and taken into custody. She is charged with driving while impaired and reckless driving.
