An early morning carjacking led to the victim firing shots at the suspect.

It happened just before 4:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 3500 block of North Roxboro Road.

Authorities said the victim was delivering newspapers when a man approached him and took his 2008 Chevrolet pickup truck at gunpoint.

The gunman got away with his vehicle, but not before the victim fired five shots, possibly wounding the suspect.

Around 8:30 a.m., authorities found the truck in the 100 block of West Edgewood Drive - a few miles from where the robbery took place.

The suspect is described as a black man with a light complexion with a medium to large build and stands 6 feet tall. He may be in his 30s and he was wearing an orange shirt and a do-rag.

Anyone with information is asked to call Investigator Carnevale at (919) 560-4582, ext. 29239 or CrimeStoppers at (919) 683-1200.
