WCTI reports that a single engine plane flipped over and nosed into a Bertie County field about 10 miles south of Edenton.
The pilot of the plane, a Piper PA-38, was airlifted to Pitt County Memorial Hospital around noon with unknown injuries.
The plane is registered to Michael Taylor, of Merry Hill, N.C. There's no word if he was piloting the plane when it crashed.
