It happened around 3 p.m. in an area just off Guess road at I-85.
There were initial reports that there were shots fired during the holdup, but police later said that was not the case.
Detectives said a hooded and masked man came into the internet sweepstakes café, roughed up a clerk, and made off with cash.
They were searching for the man.
