Tree arrives for Ipreo Raleigh Winterfest

RALEIGH, N.C.

It was a bit of a struggle to get the tree from Avery Nurseries in Newland to Raleigh. The truck carrying it got a flat tire in Winston-Salem. After repairing the tire and getting back on the road, the driver got stuck in traffic backed up because of an accident in Greensboro.

But the monster Norway Spruce eventually made it. Frank Bloom with the Downtown Raleigh Alliance said the tree was worth the wait.

"These guys are really reputable up in the western North Carolina region. They supply trees to the Biltmore House, so we are really excited to have a tree from that same farm, and he sent me a few pictures and we need sure we got the right one," Bloom explained.

Workers will decorate the tree with lights in time for Raleigh Mayor Nancy McFarlane to throw the switch this Saturday at 7 p.m.
