RICHMOND, Texas (WTVD) -- New charges have been filed in connection with the 2011 murder of Laura Ackerson.
Amanda Hayes, 42, was indicted by a Texas grand jury Wednesday on a charge of illegally disposing a body.
She is currently serving time a 13-year prison sentence in North Carolina after being convicted earlier this year of second degree murder.
Ackerson's cut-up body was found in a creek in Texas, near Hayes' sister's house.
Authorities say Amanda Hayes and her husband, Grant, killed Ackerson in Raleigh, and then dumped her body in Texas.
Grant Hayes, 34, was found guilty of first degree murder in 2013. He received a life sentence without the possibility of parole.
In Texas, Amanda Hayes has been charged with tampering with physical evidence, which is a second degree felony punishable by two to 20 years.
