Amber Alert for missing Sampson County 2-year-old cancelled
Authorities in Sampson County were searching for 2-year-old Jeremiah Hughes and 39-year-old Alison Naylor Robinson.

SAMPSON COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- The Sampson County Sheriff's Office said that a child missing from near Clinton, who was the subject of an Amber Alert earlier in the day, has been found safe in Pearl, Mississippi.

The alert was issued for 2-year-old Jeremiah Hughes Friday morning. Authorities were also looking for his mother - 39-year-old Alison Robinson Naylor.

Police in Mississippi said they stopped a vehicle driven by Naylor on Interstate 20 around 9 p.m. Friday.

The child was taken into custody and turned over to Mississippi social workers. Arrangements are being worked out to return Jeremiah to North Carolina.

The Sampson County Sheriff's Office said the boy was in custody arranged by the Sampson County Department of Social Services when Robinson allegedly went to the address on US Hwy 421 in Clinton, forced her way past the homeowner and took the boy.

Officials said no charges have been filed against Naylor at last report and she was released from custody.
