Bob and the Showgram suspended!

RALEIGH

Listeners to /*G-105*/ won't be hearing /*Bob Dumas*/ and the Showgram because the radio show has been pulled following last week's comments that offended Lumbee Indians.

The general manager of WDCG-FM in Raleigh, Dick Harlow, says the cast of the entire show has been suspended for three days beginning Wednesday.

In a radio segment last Tuesday, Bob Dumas and co-hosts kidded an intern about her pending marriage to a Lumbee Indian.

An apology was read over the air Tuesday morning and Vice President and General Manager Dick Harlow released this statement on the station's website. "WDCG apologizes to any listener that may have found remarks or recordings played Tuesday, April 1, 2008 during Bob and the Showgram to be offensive, derogatory or insensitive. WDCG does not condone inappropriate behavior, language or insensitive remarks."

The N.C. Commission of Indian Affairs has demanded the hosts be fired. The commission also called for the Federal Communications Commission to investigate WDCG-FM owner Clear Channel Communications Corp.

Bob and the Showgram is the #1 morning drive show among all listeners in the Triangle.
