Woodbridge Corp workers fear layoffs

WTVG 40 to 60 Woodbridge Corporation employees could soon be out of a job. The Ontario-based company has announced possible plans to lay-off employees at their Fremont plant this summer.

Company leaders remain tight-lipped calling the lay-offs a possibility. Several employees say they think it's only a matter of time before they're out of a job. Behind the doors of the Fremont Woodbridge Corporation plant, 149 employees produce polyurethane foam products for the automotive industry. According to a notice sent to the state, some of those employees could be laid off.

Employees at the plant say they've heard rumors of lay-offs, but no notices have been sent out. Company leaders say right now the lay-offs are just a possibility. The company makes seats and arm rests for automobiles and right now the auto industry is hurting.

In a warning notice sent to the state, a Fremont plant manager writes if the lay-off should take place it will be on or around July 1st. Which means, until then, these employees will have to wait.

No one at the plant would answer questions as to how many employees would be laid off and why. A human resources representative says the plant manager will return to the office on Monday, and will release a more specific statement about the lay-offs when he returns.
