The bus was taking students home from Wilsons Mills Elementary School on U.S. 70 in Johnston County when a garbage truck slammed into it from behind.
Two other cars were also involved. About ten students were on the bus.
A few suffered minor images.
The driver of the garbage truck was airlifted to the hospital.
