The fire broke out inside a farm house of Green Hope School Road around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday.
The residents told ABC11 Eyewitness News the sound of their barking dog woke up the family. That's when they noticed a fire in the kitchen.
A couple and their two children escaped unharmed. The family's car was damaged along with the home.
The Red Cross is assisting the family.
A family pet is being credited with alerting a Cary family to a fire inside their home.
