Life sentence for Good Hope trailer strangulation

MURRIETA, Calif.

Jason Budrow, 31, pleaded guilty in court Wednesday. He agreed to be sentenced to life in prison and waived his rights to appeal the sentence, according to the Riverside County District Attorney's Office.

Budrow is accused of driving to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department Lake Elsinore station on the morning of Oct. 22, 2010. Budrow flagged down a sheriff's sergeant and told him he had killed a woman and had the woman's body in the trunk of his car. Budrow was immediately arrested.

Investigators determined that Margret Dalton, 48, died by strangulation in a trailer near the 74 Freeway in Good Hope where Budrow had been living, according to the D.A.'s office.

Budrow invited Dalton to his trailer with intent to kill her, believing she was a police informant.

Budrow cut off a GPS tracking anklet on his way to the Lake Elsinore sheriff's station with Dalton's body. Budrow had served time in state prison for a parole violation connected to a 2004 conviction for molesting a 14-year-old girl.

Wednesday, the judge in the Dalton murder case sentenced Budrow to two consecutive life sentences without parole because of the previous strike, according to the district attorney's office.
