Police said a woman told them she was assaulted by a man on the railroad tracks behind a Harris Teeter and Estes Park Apartments early Thursday morning.

The woman is not a student at UNC Chapel Hill, according to authorities, but they said students and Carrboro residents frequently walk through the area.
Officials are urging people not to walk alone and to call police immediately if they need help.
