More arrests made in shooting death of 16-year-old Joseph Braxton
FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- Investigators have made more arrests in the shooting death of a Fayetteville 16-year-old, making a total of five teens charged in the murder.
Joseph Braxton III was gunned down on his way to a sweet sixteen birthday party on Sept. 27.
On Thursday, two Raeford teens were arrested and charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
Rashaun Tyree Graham, 17, and D'ontrae Taivon Lloyd, 18, were arrested in a Hoke County home and processed at the Cumberland County jail Thursday afternoon.
Police said at a Friday news conference that Deonta Zaquan Graham, 17, has surrendered. Graham is also facing first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder charges.
Earlier this week, two other Fayetteville teens were charged in the case. Authorities arrested Devonta Jaquan Douglas, 19, at Ramsey Street High School on Tuesday. That's an alternative school in Cumberland County. Douglas is currently in jail under a $1 million bond.
On Wednesday, Jacquie Markete Reuben, 18, was arrested at Seventy-First High School in Fayetteville. Reuben is charged with conspiracy after the fact to first-degree murder. His bond was increased from $100,000 to $250,000 Thursday during a first court appearance.
Prosecutors said Thursday that Reuben lied and provided an alibi for himself and Douglas. They said Reuben told detectives he and Douglas were at a party on Pecan Street in Fayetteville when Braxton was gunned down on Randleman Street.
Douglas and Reuben were classmates of Braxton's at Seventy-First High School. It's unclear where the other suspects attended school.
Braxton's family has said they believe the shooting was done by older classmates in retaliation for altercations the week prior to the shooting.
