Troubleshooter: Tailor got taken to the cleaners
CARY (WTVD) -- When you are doing business with someone, you expect to get paid for the work you do.
Anna Bui works hard at her Cary business, Connie Tailor.
Since Anna has owned the shop, she has done alterations for Raleigh's Hilker's Cleaners. She says she has not had any problems until last year.
"I only get paid when I call them and remind them a couple of times," Bui said.
Despite the pay problems, Bui kept doing the work.
"I pick up three times a week, and I drop off for them. I am here in Cary and they are in Raleigh," she said. "I always go the extra mile to do the best job for them."
But Bui says several months without payment passed by, and it became hard for Bui to keep doing the work. She said Hilker's owed her more than $1,700.
"I don't receive anything from them, not even a phone call, that they might be late or something, not anything," she said.
Bui gave Hilker's notice and stopped doing the alterations for the company.
"Honestly, I thought that I would lose that money until one of my customers told me about you," Bui said.
I got in touch with the dry cleaner's and the president of Hilker's sent me a letter admitting that he owed Connie Tailor the money. He said the cleaners had fallen on difficult times, but Bui would get paid.
It took some time, but she got the full amount she was owed.
"From the bottom of my heart, I'm very thankful for what you did for us," Bui said.
Bui kept all records of the work she did for the company. That is always helpful in situations such as this.
