The donation will be split equally between the Red Cross and the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina.

"We hope our donation helps those in need receive care and support after the devastating storms and flooding," said Rondi Furgason, CenturyLink vice president of operations for North Carolina.

The company also announced that customers impacted by the recent flooding can activate emergency call forwarding for one month free of charge. Residential customers can call (800) 788-3600 and business customers can call (800) 786-6272.
