Goldsboro man charged with rape of child

GOLDSBORO, North Carolina (WTVD) -- The Wayne County Sheriff's Office said Thursday that bond has been set at $3.5 million for a man accused in the rape of a child.

Deputies said that 30-year-old Matthew Gordon Williams was already in the Wayne County Detention Center on other charges.

Williams now faces a host of new charges including first-degree rape and indecent liberties with a child.

Investigators said the abuse happened over a 3-year period.
